A Nationwide established Costs Consultancy that are continuing to grow. They cover High value PI/Clin Neg & Court of Protection.  They pride themselves on managing a large team but still creating a ‘family feel’ so that every person feels part of something – even when working remotely.

They are seeking an experienced and ambitious Costs Draftsman/Lawyer to join their expanding Court of Protection costs team. This is a fantastic opportunity to become an integral part of a growing national team, contributing your expertise and skills to deliver exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare Bills of Costs for Detailed/Provisional Assessments.
• Manage the litigation of bills through the Court process.
• Conduct advocacy at Court, if required, as agreed with the Costs Partner.
• Engage with clients by providing advice, taking instructions, and maintaining ongoing communication throughout the case.
• Offer technical support to fee earners and assist in the training of junior team members.

Essential:

• At least two years of experience working either in-house or for an external supplier of costs drafting services.
• Basic understanding of legal procedures.
• Proven proficiency with IT systems and time recording tools.
• Strong ability to manage caseloads and prioritize competing deadlines without compromising attention to detail.
• Flexibility and adaptability to rapidly changing priorities.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional telephone manner.
• Capability to collaborate effectively within a team while maintaining independence in your work.

Desirable:

• Financial or legal qualifications, such as ACL qualification or ILEX Part 1 Year 1.
• Experience in one or more legal departments, ideally with Court of Protection (COP) expertise.
