Salary £50-£60,000

The Role
To be responsible for cost drafting duties, budgeting, negotiations and/or advocacy duties in accordance with The Civil Procedure Rules. To ensure that the maximum reasonable costs are recovered within a timely manner for the Client and provide guidance and support to other members of staff in respect of Costs issues. The Client being the centre of everything. To lead on the drafting and negotiation of Bills of Costs, ensuring accurate, timely recovery in line with the Civil Procedure Rules. You’ll manage cost claims from instruction through to assessment, supporting both client outcomes and internal standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing Precedents H & T, Bills, Schedules, and N260s within SLA timeframes
- Ensuring technical accuracy, CPR compliance, and alignment with client/court directions
- Drafting Replies to Points of Dispute (where agreed, based on experience)
- Mentoring junior staff and contributing to internal training and development
- Supporting client relationships through
- Conducting advocacy or negotiations (subject to experience)
Requirements:
- 3 years + experience in a Legal Costs role
- Court experience desirable but not essential
- Experience of working with case management systems
