The Role

This role is for a confident Costs Draftsman/Lawyer that can work with minimum supervision.  Its a great opportunity to work on complex, high-value personal injury and clinical negligence matters (ranging from £100k to multi-million-pound cases) in a no-targets, quality-driven environment.  You’ll contribute to the full life cycle of Costs Draftsman costs work — from drafting bills and budgets to negotiating settlements — while collaborating closely with a collegiate, forward-thinking team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing costs schedules and drafting bills of costs and advising on recoveries
• Preparing replies to points of dispute in complex high value Claimant Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury cases
• Preparing costs budgets
• Negotiating budgets and overall settlements
• Liaising with other costs team members and the wider costs team

Requirements:

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a law costs draftsman or costs lawyer
• Strong track record in drafting bills of costs and conducting detailed assessments
• Proven ability to draft, negotiate, and settle costs budgets (Precedent H)
• Confidence in client-facing situations, with a focus on building long-term professional relationships
• Advocacy experience at costs hearings and assessments (desirable but not essential)
