The firm

Our client is a leading legal costs consultancy based in the South West.

They specialize in all areas of costs law, including:

 

  • Clinical negligence
  • Catastrophic personal injury
  • Court of protection

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for

Providing dedicated costs support to all clients.
Preparing and submitting claims for costs for assessment.
Negotiating successful settlement

Duties

 

  • Preparing Costs Budgets and Discussion Reports
  • Drafting Bills for assessment by the court
  • Preparing Costs Estimates and Schedules
  • Liaising and advising clients in regard to their cost claims.
  • Drafting Points of Dispute and Replies
  • Negotiating successful settlement of costs
  • Undertaking other duties reasonably required by directors or senior management

 

Essential Skills

  • 8+ years’ experience in a legal costs role.
  • Ability to manage own caseload from instruction to settlement.
  • Extensive experience preparing Schedules, Budgets, and Bills of Costs.
  • Strong drafting skills for Points of Dispute and Replies.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of CPR and relevant legislation.
  • Proven IT skills with adaptability to new technology.
  • Qualified Costs Lawyer (preferred).
