A leading UK and international law firm is seeking a skilled and dynamic Costs Lawyer/Draftsperson to join its friendly and high-performing costs team. The firm provides high-quality legal advice tailored to both businesses and individuals, with a strong emphasis on technical expertise and a collaborative approach.

Responsibilities
This is an exciting opportunity for a Costs Lawyer/Draftsperson with experience in all aspects of inter-parties costs and solicitor/client costs work. The ideal candidate will thrive in a team environment, demonstrating the ability to streamline processes, monitor outcomes, and advise fee earners on complex costs matters. While a qualified Costs Lawyer is preferred, it is not essential—candidates should have at least 4 years of post-qualification experience (PQE).

The successful applicant will bring a commercial mindset, focusing on achieving the best possible financial results for the firm. Confidence in managing external providers and ensuring a high level of service delivery is crucial.

Essential & Desirable Criteria

• Strong collaboration skills, working effectively with the Costs Manager, costs lawyers, and fee earners
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritize competing demands across a large team
• High-quality drafting skills and the ability to provide detailed analysis
• Proven ability to provide thorough and reasoned advice on all aspects of costs
• Experience in paying party work
• Structured approach with adherence to timetables in all costs cases
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Strong technical and legal knowledge in costs law
• Familiarity with arbitration and international arbitration rules and procedures
• Commitment to staying updated with recent legal developments
• Professional engagement with external providers and third parties
• This role requires at least three days a week in the office
