About the Role
We are seeking a skilled professional to join our Court of Protection costs team in Sheffield. You’ll play a key role in preparing Bills of Costs for Detailed/Provisional Assessment and handling litigation through the Court process. Advocacy may also be part of your role, depending on requirements and agreement with the Costs Partner.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing Bills of Costs for assessment and litigation.
- Providing expert advice to clients and taking instructions throughout each case.
- Offering technical support to fee earners and contributing to the training of junior team members.
Ideally, you will have at least two years’ experience, whether in-house or with an external provider of costs drafting services.
About You
We are looking for someone with:
- Previous experience in costs drafting (in-house or external).
- A strong understanding of legal procedures.
- Proficiency with IT systems and time recording processes.
- The ability to manage caseloads efficiently while maintaining accuracy.
- A flexible mindset, ready to adapt to changing priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with stakeholders.
- A collaborative approach while also being confident working independently.
Desirable:
- Financial or legal qualifications (e.g. ACL qualification, ILEX Part 1 Year 1).
- Experience in legal departments, ideally with Court of Protection knowledge.
