We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Costs Draftsman/Lawyer to join our expanding Court of Protection costs team. This is a fantastic opportunity to become an integral part of a growing national team, contributing your expertise and skills to deliver exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare Bills of Costs for Detailed/Provisional Assessments.
- Manage the litigation of bills through the Court process.
- Conduct advocacy at Court, if required, as agreed with the Costs Partner.
- Engage with clients by providing advice, taking instructions, and maintaining ongoing communication throughout the case.
- Offer technical support to fee earners and assist in the training of junior team members.
About You:
To excel in this role, you should meet the following criteria:
Essential:
- At least two years of experience working either inhouse or for an external supplier of costs drafting services.
- Basic understanding of legal procedures.
- Proven proficiency with IT systems and time recording tools.
- Strong ability to manage caseloads and prioritize competing deadlines without compromising attention to detail.
- Flexibility and adaptability to rapidly changing priorities.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional telephone manner.
- Capability to collaborate effectively within a team while maintaining independence in your work.
Desirable
- 1 yrs minimum experience as a Costs Draftsman
- Experience in one or more legal departments, ideally with Court of Protection (COP) expertise.
